Synopsis
17th century. Francisco Mendonça, a Spanish aristocrat, wounds a man in a duel and seeks refuge in Lisbon. He is accompanied by his inseparable friend D. Luís de Meneses, who leaves his fiancée Clara. During his stay in the capital, Francisco meets Beatriz de Mascarenhas and falls in love with her.
