Synopsis
The visit of the President of the Republic, Óscar Carmona, to the Portuguese colonies of East Africa, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola, and the South African Union, from his departure in June 1939, on board the “Colonial” liner, to his return to Lisbon, where he was received by António de Oliveira Salazar. Cape Verde: Mindelo, Praia; traditional mornas. São Tomé: inauguration of the Dr. Oliveira Salazar Hospital and the fishing district; an agricultural parade. Marracuene: the historic square, church mass, military parade. Mozambique Island: S. Sebastião Fortress. Pretória: reception by the Governor and head of government; military parade and visit to Cape Town. Return to Luanda: reception by Governor-General Marques Mano; Mocidade Portuguesa Festival.
