In Alfama, singer Ana Maria makes her public debut at a fado club, achieving great success. Her career took off suddenly, taking her to the theater and around Lisbon's bohemian life. Despite everything, Ana Maria doesn't let her success get to her and remains attached to her man of all time, guitarist Júlio. But the lure of a life of luxury and celebrities ends up complicating everything and Júlio begins to consider leaving to Africa. The sentimental plot, the excellent editing and the fados sung by Amália made this movie one of the biggest box office hits of all time.
