Synopsis
Based on an operetta, the love story of a Portuguese soldier, João Ratão, who returns from the battlefront in Flanders. He becomes embroiled in intrigues motivated by jealousy over Vitória, a local girl he had been dating through letters written by others. It evokes the pathetic scenario of the war (1914-18) and the work of the Vouga Valley loggers in the stunning Vouga Valley.
